Pencil Drawing/Mordant & Raised Gilding/Watercolor Painting

One of the zodiac signs, Leo the lion was completed in the style of fourteenth century medieval illuminated manuscript.  This 6.5" x 6.5" watercolor painting on goatskin parchment is enhanced by the use of a 23.75k (raised) gold gilding frame,  mordant gilding in the background.  All to compliment the more modern stylized lion.

    The first of a new series.  This 6.5" x 6.5" illuminated manuscript epitomizes the timelessness of this art medium.  The use of raised and mordant gilding compliments the subject — 23.75k gold leaf and traditional watercolor on goatskin parchment.
